In an interview earlier this morning, President Trump revealed that he is the reason why Chinese President Xi hasn't obliterated the Hong Kong protests.
In the aforementioned interview, the President revealed to his interviewer that he ordered President Xi Jinping to not send soldiers into Hong Kong because of how it would effect their ongoing trade negotiations.
President Trump was quoted as saying, "If it weren't for me, Hong Kong would've been obliterated in 14 minutes... [Xi] has got a million soldiers standing outside of Hong Kong that aren't going in only because I asked him, 'Please don't do that, it's going to make a tremendous negative impact on the trade deal.'"
President Trump, always having America in mind, has trade negotiation front and center, saying, "We have to stand with Hong Kong, but I'm also standing with President Xi."
This is the first time that President Trump has publicly stated that he is responsible for preventing further violence in Hong Kong.
